Our Beginnings
For generations, ever since Francisco Hinojosa arrived on this land more than 60 years ago, we have cultivated grapes to produce high-quality wines. But it was not until this century that the dream shared by all those generations became a reality. In 2003, Bodega La Azul was born, although the tradition of vine growing has flowed through our veins since our grandparents arrived in the Uco Valley and understood that this stony soil could produce excellent fruit.
Tradition
Today, as the valley overflows with trellised vineyards and state-of-the-art machinery, it is hard to imagine a time when there was nothing but stones and sand, and the bed of a river that ran dry in winter. It is hard to imagine that they arrived here and had to try different crops: vegetable gardens, olive trees, walnut trees… and vines. Thanks to this tradition we have inherited, today we can say we are fortunate to produce our own grapes, an essential aspect when it comes to making good wine.
T.S. Eliot
Past time and present time may perhaps both be present in a future time.
Our Story
Our Winery Today
Today, the winery has a capacity of 450,000 liters in stainless steel tanks. Our varietal line will complete its journey in the bottle after passing through the tanks; the Reserva and Gran Reserva lines, on the other hand, will move on to French and American oak barrels, whose different toast levels and aromas subtly transform, over many months, the wine that rests inside them.
This is our story. Our passion is growing grapes, making wine and, of course, drinking it, enjoying it and giving it the place it deserves: celebration.
With this in mind, we invite you to visit the winery, share lunch with us at the Restó, stay at our Guest House, walk through the vineyards and taste our wines, sit with a glass in hand while looking out at the Cordón del Plata: imposing, snow-capped and reflecting the fierce midday sun across all its slopes.
